Website Overhaul
The ultimate goal of every web site is to be included in the first
10 search results. But how do you accomplish this? Generally speaking
search engines read and memorise the words on a web page. If the
word that the "searcher" enters into the query is not
on the page, no match results and the page will not be listed. However
each search engine uses different techniques for its searches.
Search engines may look for titles, content, keywords and descriptions
(as included in HTML "META tags") or some combination
of the above. Once the content has been developed, the search engines
use algorithms to rank the pages by generating a Confidence or Relevance
Factor that is displayed as a percentage or points with the search
results.
The Relevance Factor is determined by how many times a word is
used in a document and how it is used. Ranking also may be determined
by a site reviewer or by the number of web sites that link to your
web site, indicating its credibility or popularity.

Don't settle for a web designer who says they'll list you with

Preparation
After consultation and agreement on basic strategy, the entire
site is reviewed: Site pages are prepared for submission:
|
Design modifications
|
|
keyword research
|
|
meta tag revision (keywords and copy) and installation instructions
|
|
"supplemental" page design &
construction
Supplemental pages will be created based on keyword popularity
and then content topics. They will be optimised for a "general"
search engine or directory listing.
|
Submission
Site and page submission takes place in two phases:
To expedite the process, after the keyword research has been completed,
we can submit to Yahoo and Looksmart as well as all the pay-per-click
engines.
After the existing pages have been modified and supplemental pages
have been created and posted, we submit to the remaining search
engines and directories:
to all the remaining major search engines and directories.
|
to a second level of search engines and directories
|
|
to a specialised list of niche directories, award sites,
etc.
|
Additional listing considerations:
|
research into individual search engine options such as proprietary
channels, directories, etc.
|
|
suggestions or solicitations for editorials, etc.
|
|
research options for leveraging banner placements and purchase
|
Link popularity
Link popularity has become increasingly important in determining
search engine rankings. We will recommend a customised strategy
once the main research has been completed.
