Accommodating your Audience
You Can't Find Anything
Internet Home Sales Avoidance Tips
Broken images and links. Make sure all your images
display properly, and your links actually go somewhere.
Spelling and grammar mistakes. If you don't take
the time to get these right, don't expect the visitor to trust you
with his or her credit card
Slow Pages. Your beautiful homepage is 500K and
sited on a free websipace at tesco.net .
Using enthusiasts tools to create your web pages.
Internet savvy customers know what pages were created with what
programes; they have a "look" to them. These template
driven sites do not inspire confidence.
Java applets. If it doesn't have a real purpose
get rid of it.. Same goes for JavaScript scrolling messages..Marks
you as a net newbie and slows down the customer's machine
Coloured text on a coloured or patterned background.
Hard to read text means that you lose the sale to a more legible
site.
More than 1 ad banner on the page. Do you want
your business to be perceived as a vehicle to earn click thru revenue.Don't
put a banner on your main (home) page. That page should advertise
YOUR site, not someone else's.
Your entire site is on 1 3-megabyte page. Books
have more than one chapter - so should your website.Use the chapters
to sell your product
Extraneous content. Don't put up an animated gif
just because it looks nice. If there's no good reason for something
to be on your page, get rid of it.
Music. It takes forever to load. It often crashes
their browser. And if they don't share your taste in music, it is
game over.
Conclusion look at every element on your site,
and ask yourself
"Does this absolutely, positively, HAVE to
be on the site?"
If the answer is no, be ruthless about it AND
GET RID OF IT
